Why not make your own breadcrumbs. If you have dry bread or toast left just put it on a tray in an oven to crisp up then put it in a food processor and in seconds you have your own breadcrumbs. These keep for ages in an air-tight container.
Use them to coat pork steaks or fish in . To make it more exciting add some fresh or dried herbs of your choice. Example dry excess moisture from pork steaks or chops with kitchen paper. Pass through beaten egg and then in the breadcrumbs. Place on a tray until ready to fry. Fry quickly on both sides and finish cooking in the oven for 8 minutes, very tasty.
If you have room in your freezer make your own fresh breadcrumbs. Use crusts that no one wants to eat. Again place in food processor a few seconds and freeze until needed.
Make your own croutons. Again use the crusts or dried bread. Cut them into neat squares. In a bowl put a little oil seasoning to you taste and some mixed herbs if you like. Toss the bread squares in this and bake in the oven until brown and dry. These go well on top of a salad or as an accompaniment to soup.
